After successful login (after initial registration) and unlocking your account (ie., elevating permissions), a “My Assets” button will appear in the navigation menu.

Choose an eLTER Standard Observation (SO) type from the “Asset type” selection and click the “Create a new asset” button:

Enter the metadata description for your dataset in the form. You can use the “Save” button at any time to save the data you have entered, even if the form is not fully completed and mandatory fields are missing. You can return to the form again later.

Once you have entered all the required information, you can click the “Next” button.

Select the files you want to upload or drag them to the upload area. After uploading, they should appear in the “Uploaded files” section. Finalize the registration of the dataset with the “Start Quality Checks” button:

The next page presents the details of your dataset and information about running quality checks. As long as they are running, it is not possible to use the buttons in the “Action Menu” (except for the “Delete” button, resulting in the deleting of your dataset). It will take a few seconds (at most, minutes) for them to be finished.

Now, you can freely perform any other actions in the DAR or even leave/close the window (and return back to DAR any time later) – you don’t need to wait for the results of the tests. (You can find them any time later.)

Once the quality checks are finished, you can see the results by clicking on the “quality checks identification” in the list of the quality checks. Here, you can inspect the results (or see the error messages, if any). Feel free to edit the dataset record, a new run of quality checks will be performed automatically. You can even delete the whole dataset record or re-run just the quality checks again.

Once your dataset passes the quality checks, the “Publish” button becomes available. By clicking this button, your dataset becomes “frozen” and made available to the public. (After the approval by eLTER experts.)
